LITTLE HULTON UTD 4 ABBEY HEY 2 TURTON manager Peter Cooper still wasn't satisfied with his side despite the fact that a 2-0 half time deficit in the second round of the Lancashire Adidas Amateur Shield was turned into an eventual 4-5 win with second half goals from Paul Davies (3), Dean Johnson, and Steve Mather.
"The goals we gave away were very, very poor," he said. "It was played on a park pitch and overall our performance was very disappointing."
LITTLE Hulton United continue to set the pace that rivals must match at the top of the Manchester League premier division after Saturday saw a cracking 4-2 double win in seven days over Abbey Hey.
Tony Bolton hit a stunning hat-trick and Dave Lees got a fourth in a superb all-round United performance that manager Steve Vychinski rated as "the best of the season."
Other results: Eagley beat Haslingden St Marys 4-1 but Atherton Town surprisingly went down 2-1 at Bolton Combination side Hindley Green. Pennington lost 1-0 at Burscough St Richards and Breightmet United were trounced 7-2 at Shevington.
BLACKROD Town moved into the third round with a more than comfortable 7-1 win over Punchbowl of Atherton.
The big gulf in standard was emphasised with goals from David Such (2), Carl Marshall, Brian Whittingham, Gary Little, and Tony and Stephen Haydock.
The Reserves battled back from a 3-1 deficit at Fleetwood Hesketh to level the scores only to fall agonisingly to the very last kick of the game in a 4-3 defeat.
The Town third team continue to go from strength to strength, the latest victory being over Tottington United Reserves in the Tate Trophy.
